Highlights: 2 Months In

-combating the summer heat with cool slices of fresh watermelon

-getting use to my workday commute, but still being memorized by the seaside views in transit

-beginning to understand simple Turkish sentences, and successfully ordering completely   in Turkish in a cafe

-continually learning something new and facinating about Turkish life from my students during conversation classes

-watching Ellen and Conan’O Brien dubbed in Turkish

-developing a strong love for goat cheese

-developing friendships with fellow teachers and therefore getting inside tips on the inner- workings of my language school (and teaching advice)

-going through the streets of Karşıyaka, amid the crowds and heat to find gold for a wedding present in the many, cramped jewelery shops on the main thoroughfare (it felt like I was on a top-secret mission)
